The lagoon is not scenery around Venice. It is a place Venetians cross, inhabit, read and enjoy.
This is not the classic circuit of the islands by water taxi. It is a long, private day aboard an open boat, designed for no more than four guests and shaped by the freedom of being on the water.
We leave from Riva degli Schiavoni and follow a route through places that reveal different forms of lagoon life: Murano’s culture of glass, Mazzorbo’s quiet landscape, Torcello’s ancient mosaics and Burano’s colour, lace and local flavours.
But the real difference lies between the stops. Wind, light, channels and changing horizons become part of the experience. The route remains responsive to weather, tides, opening times and the interests of your private party — as any genuine day in the lagoon should.
Offered from May until the end of September, each departure belongs to its season. Warm-weather swimming, island rhythms and the balance between time ashore and time on the water are adapted to the month and to the conditions of the day.

Riva degli Schiavoni
We leave Venice from its historic waterfront. From the open boat, the city’s monumental profile gradually gives way to channels, islands and the wider geography of the lagoon.

Murano and the art of glass
At a working furnace, we encounter glass as specialised knowledge rather than souvenir: fire, timing, bodily skill and centuries of experimentation concentrated in the hands of the Maestro vetraio.
- 03 · A quieter island
Mazzorbo and Santa Caterina
We walk through a more rural lagoon landscape to the ancient church of Santa Caterina. Its stillness introduces the historical and spiritual world of the northern islands.
- 04 · Before Venice
Torcello and Santa Maria Assunta
Inside the basilica, one of the most extensive and powerful medieval mosaic cycles in the West culminates in the Last Judgement. Torcello allows us to enter the religious imagination and early history from which Venice emerged.
- 05 · A Venetian table
Lunch in an elegant island osteria
There is time for a proper lunch, not a hurried stop. The restaurant is selected and reserved according to the route, season and your preferences.
- 06 · Colour and handwork
Burano
We explore the island on foot through its colours and domestic scale, with the possibility of meeting the tradition of lace and pausing for gelato or the distinctive bussolai biscuits.
- 07 · The southern lagoon
Malamocco and the Lido
At the Lido, Malamocco preserves the scale and atmosphere of an old island settlement and recalls the earliest history of the Venetian duchy. According to the rhythm of the day, we may conclude this chapter with a prosecco on the terrace of the Hotel Excelsior.

San Francesco del Deserto is optional and must be requested at least two months in advance. The bacàn is a seasonal possibility, not a guaranteed stop; swimming is included only when temperature, weather and water conditions are suitable.

the way I see.
I’m Romy — a Venetian and a licensed guide since 2016. For me, guiding is not simply about knowing the city, but about helping another person truly encounter it.
My way of reading Venice grew from years of study. At Ca’ Foscari University, I graduated with honours in Languages and Anglo-American and Hispano-American Literatures, and later earned a Master’s degree with honours in History of the Arts and Conservation of Cultural Heritage. I then completed a postgraduate diploma in Theological Hermeneutics of Christian Art at the Theological Faculty of Central Italy, also with honours.
These different paths — languages, literature, art history and the theological hermeneutics of Christian art — allow me to connect places with the ideas, rituals and human stories that gave them meaning. Yet our time together remains personal and effortless: a genuine conversation, paced around you, in the city that has formed my gaze.
